SEASONS

The seasons are created by two very important events – the rotation of the Earth that gives us day and night, and the orbit of the Earth around the sun that gives us our year.

Because the sun never changes, only the movement and tilt of the Earth creates changes in the ratio of light and darkness, and of course our temperature.

It is these features that have shaped our climate and countryside.  The Kilmacolm Meadow looks very different in each of the seasons - so much more than some of the farmed fields around Kilmacolm.

The seasons are defined as spring (March, April, May), summer (June, July, August), autumn (September, October, November) and winter (December, January, February).
